As a part of Beneath A Paper Moon's nationwide study of American storytelling, this image accompanies writing about myth-making and monsters. Specifically, this section of the project considers the Rougarou, a uniquely American swamp-dwelling monster born out of the convergences of desire, guilt, religion, and a legacy of colonialism.
