As a part of Beneath A Paper Moon's nationwide study of American storytelling, this image accompanies writing that explores the origins of the myth of the alleged UFO crash near Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947. This section of the project addresses the belief among ufologists that the aliens were benevolent and came out of concern for the detonation of the world’s first nuclear bomb in the area two years prior.
